Meir Ben Moshe: A Journey from ORT Tiberias Yeshiva School to IDF Artist

Meir Ben Moshe, a graduate of ORT Tiberias High School, has transformed his childhood dream of becoming an artist into a reality, intertwining his passion for art with his service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). From a young age, Meir’s love for art has been a driving force in his life, providing him with a means to express himself and convey meaningful messages to his surroundings.

Recognizing Meir’s exceptional talent and determination, the staff at ORT Tiberias High School rallied behind him to nurture his artistic aspirations. Under the guidance of school principal Gilad Messing and the regional head of the ORT Israel network, Avi Aviram, Meir received two years of dedicated art education and even had the opportunity to showcase his work in exhibitions. Reflecting on Meir’s journey, Rabbi Gilad expressed admiration for his talent and commended his positive impact on the school community, emphasizing Meir’s role in the school’s success.

Upon reaching the age of enlistment, Meir’s artistic abilities did not go unnoticed by the IDF. He was offered a unique role that allowed him to utilize his artistic skills to uplift the spirits of soldiers by adorning the walls of IDF bases with vibrant and engaging murals featuring animals. This initiative aimed to enhance the soldiers’ morale and create a more pleasant environment during their service. Simultaneously, Meir continued to pursue his passion for art outside of his military duties, building a diverse clientele and establishing himself as a dynamic and creative artist.

In the wake of the Iron Swords War, Meir has devoted himself to a deeply meaningful cause, painting portraits of fallen soldiers for their grieving families. Through his art, he seeks to honor the memory of these brave individuals and provide solace to their loved ones during their time of loss.

Meir Ben Moshe’s journey from ORT Tiberias Yeshiva School to becoming an artist in the IDF is a testament to the power of perseverance, talent, and the unwavering support of a dedicated community. His story serves as an inspiration to aspiring artists and exemplifies the meaningful impact that art can have in both personal and communal contexts.
