ORT Participating in the BIG ART Erasmus+ Project: Unleashing the Power of Augmented Reality in Education

ORT is proud to participate in the BIG ART Erasmus+ project, an innovative initiative led by Greece. This pioneering project aims to transform vocational education and training (VET) by integrating Augmented Reality (AR) and mixed reality technologies. It empowers students and educators in Israel and Albania, enhancing their digital skills and employability.

Shaping the Future of VET Education

The BIG ART project unites VET providers and industry experts from across Europe to create innovative training programs. Central to the project is the integration of AR technologies, reshaping how students engage with complex concepts and preparing them for careers in high-demand fields.

ORT Braude College plays a significant role in the project, overseeing the quality assurance and distribution work packages. Additionally, ORT is leading the implementation of teamwork skills as part of its commitment to the project’s success. We will also publish the project newsletter twice a year, ensuring updates are shared with a broad audience.

Immersive Learning Experiences for Educators

A highlight of the project was the immersive BootCamp held in Greece, which was exclusively designed for lecturers. Participants explored cutting-edge AR tools and technologies in depth, gaining practical experience and understanding the potential of AR in education. These lecturers are now preparing to implement AR-based educational tools tailored for VET institutions in Israel and Albania.

Unlike traditional AR applications that focus on layering virtual elements, the technology studied in this project emphasizes 3D mapping and real-world perception. The goal is to equip students with the skills needed to map workspaces and define real-world environments accurately, enabling practical applications in various industries

Empowering Students for the Future

In Albania, the BIG ART project fosters valuable industry partnerships that provide students with real-world experiences. From food technology to hospitality, students are gaining hands-on training alongside local industry experts. These partnerships bridge the gap between education and employment, ensuring that students are ready to tackle the challenges of tomorrow’s industries.

The BIG ART Contest: Building Career-Ready Skills

The BIG ART project includes an exciting contest, where students showcase their mastery of AR and mixed reality technologies. Four or five outstanding students—both from Israel and Albania—will win the opportunity to attend an international camp in Greece in September 2025. There, they will collaborate with peers from partner institutions, further enhancing their global network and career prospects.

A Global Learning Community

The BIG ART project’s focus on AR and mixed reality technologies is creating a global learning community. By combining advanced technology with career coaching, the project boosts students’ confidence and prepares them for high-demand careers. Students from peripheral areas of Israel and Albania are gaining access to opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach, ensuring long-term socio-economic impact in these regions.

Looking Ahead: Transforming Education

ORT is committed to driving innovation in VET education through its participation in the BIG ART Erasmus+ project. By integrating AR technologies into VET programs and fostering teamwork skills, we are helping students develop the digital expertise they need to succeed in the modern workforce. With our focus on quality assurance, distribution, and collaboration, ORT is shaping the future of education and creating opportunities for students across Israel, Albania, and beyond.
