Recently, a virtual experiential learning day took place as part of the “Heart of the Matter” learning program for studying science and technology in cardiology. About 100 junior high-school pupils participated. The pupils study in three of the ORT Network schools: ORT Greenberg Tivon, ORT Irony D at Modi’in and ORT Rabin Gan Yavne. Some of them joined the event from the classrooms and some from home (resulting from school closures’ constraints due to the Corona).
During the experiential learning day, led by experts from the biotech company Biosense-Webster, a virtual demonstration of cardiac catheterization on a model of a patient was performed, using the technology developed in the Israeli company. In addition, an interactive quiz of “true or false” statements was held
The activity was planned, and the meeting organized by the ORT Network’s Directorate of Research and Development and Training, in collaboration with Sagi Ben-Basat of the Guralnik Institute for Innovation in Education and Dr. Sarah Gruper of the Center for Research and Development. Also assisted: Hagit Matok from the technologies team of the ORT Network’s Center for Research and Development, who designed the meeting presentation; members of the contents unit team at the ORT Network’s Center for research and development, who helped develop the activity, and Sigal and Lior from BioSense, who recruited BioSense’s employees to introduce entrepreneurship and the Israeli biotech industry to the ORT Network’s studiens.
