Future Innovators: ORT Students Dive into the World of Hi-Tech with SIEMENS Israel

The synergy between ORT Israel and the Israeli development center of global powerhouse SIEMENS took flight last academic year with an exciting pilot program. Its mission? To immerse high school students in the dynamic realm of high-tech industries.

Students were treated to a fascinating journey through the technological marvels behind car production lines, train electrification, and colossal global projects. They explored the cutting-edge AI tools employed at SIEMENS Israel, unveiling a world brimming with career opportunities—from project and production management to materials engineering.

This year, the program saw enthusiastic participation from two ORT schools: ORT Kiriya for Sciences and Engineering in Lod and ORT Shapira in Kfar Saba. Senior SIEMENS engineers led two engaging workshops at each school. The first workshop, “The Fourth Industrial Revolution,” charted the evolution of industry into the age of AI. The second workshop involved hands-on simulations to enhance electric scooter development.

The grand finale of the year’s activities brought together students, educators, and prominent figures like SIEMENS SISW Israel CEO, Zvi Feuer and ORT’s Deputy Director General for R&D and Training, Sharon Greenberg. Students toured the innovative SIEMENS workspace, with Feuer emphasizing the crucial role of the Israeli hi-tech sector in economic stability and the ongoing demand for skilled workers, even in challenging times.

SIEMENS employees showcased a variety of interactive stations, demonstrating the latest in VR, augmented reality, programming, robotics, and knowledge management. A candid panel discussion allowed students to hear firsthand from employees about their work and career paths. Students, in turn, shared their takeaways from this eye-opening experience.

Adding an international dimension, six visiting school principals from Azerbaijan joined the activities, eager to learn about ORT Israel’s collaboration with the local hi-tech industry under the guidance of ORT’s R&D team.

This initiative not only bridges education and industry but also sparks the imagination and ambition of the next generation of Israeli hi-tech innovators.
